Healing Wisdom of Africa
by Malidoma Patrice Some
A beautiful perspective on indigenous African rituals and belief
systems. Some focuses on his native tradition from the Dagara
peoples and talks about our connection to the earth, nature and our
ancestors. He calls for a journey back to ritual and spirit to heal
the fragmented, lonely souls of so many westerners. Having been
educated in the west and initiated into his traditional religion at
a later point in life, he is able to translate his experience to the
western reader in a concise and understandable way. Wonderful
reading and great practical advice.
Autobiography of a Yogi
by Paramahansa Yogananda
One of the classic books on spirituality, Yogananda tells of his
journey to find his guru and how he becomes one of the worlds
greatest mystics. There are wonderful accounts of levitation,
translocation and other supernatural events. He also gives a great
cross-cultural perspective of the Bible from the Vedic viewpoint.
The Wind is my Mother
by Bear Heart
A wonderful book about a Native American shaman and his journey to
adulthood. The stories and accounts are so practical that they speak
to almost every situation. This book breaks down life to its lowest
common denominator, nature.
